Are you studying full-time in Year 12, and wondering what the future might hold for you? Maybe you’re unsure of how to plan for what’s coming next, or how to start looking for jobs?

It can be a daunting time for any young person, particularly if you’re living with a disability. Though don’t despair, the Early Leavers School Program is here to help!

Run by CoAct VisAbility, the ESLP program is designed to put you, early school leavers, in touch with our employment specialists to help develop a step-by-step plan for achieving your career goals.

The Program can assist schools and parents, by helping teenagers make independent and empowered decisions about their career and the pathways to consider in achieving their goals. This helps relieve the pressure of navigating training courses, finding a job that will suit their needs, and managing expectations of both student and potential employer.

Our specialists are with you all the way, they will assist participants through writing application letters, designing a resume, and preparing for potential job interviews. We can also help you find a job and provide job training, plus discuss ways to help you feel comfortable and supported at work.

If you are interested in undertaking the program, you must meet these requirements:

  • Have a vision or hearing impairment
  • Be studying full time in Year 12
  • Looking for a school-based traineeship or apprenticeship
  • Have the capacity to work at least 8 hours/week
  • Are of legal working age, and enthusiastic to begin a career
  • Have the support of a legal parent or guardian

If you’re interested in the program, currently meet those requirements or would like to learn more, please contact our friendly CoAct VisAbility team on (08) 9311 8202  for WA residents or (03) 6232 1250 for Tasmanian residents to make an appointment.
