Every person with disability has different goals and needs. And each person’s experience of the NDIS will be different.

My Vision, My Choice (link opens in new window) is an online portal developed by VisAbility through funding provided by the (former) Disability Services Commission. The portal is for people in Western Australia who are blind or have low vision.

It will provide information and resources on the services and supports available for people living with low vision through the NDIS.

It will support participants and their families or carers to navigate the NDIS and find out how it they can benefit at home, in their community and in the workplace. The portal will also include resources for planning, information on providers, suppliers, sample plans and the questions participants should be asking at planning meetings.

My Vision, My Choice gives planners and disability service providers resources to achieve the best outcomes for people with vision impairment.

Information in the My Vision, My Choice portal is specifically written for people who are blind or have low vision, their carers and families. It focuses on the most relevant supports, presented in a way that is easy to access and easy to understand.

“Navigating the NDIS can be difficult, but if you find the right information, and ask the right questions, the NDIS can really help you along the journey to being independent and doing what you want to do,” said Crystal Chan, NDIS Coordinator at a Western Australian disability service provider.

“If everything was in one place they [participants] would be able to get the information they need to get the best plan, and the best outcome,” Crystal said.

Through My Vision, My Choice participants can make informed decisions about the NDIS to meet their goals and needs.
