Open Day to connect children’s therapy with community

in Latest News, Stories of Independence

VisAbility Tasmania’s Children’s Therapy Centre is holding an Open Day for families and practitioners at its premises in Bellerive on Friday 11 August.

At the event, parents and practitioners will have the opportunity to meet highly qualified therapists, learn about our life-changing services and treatment options, and network with relevant community support organisations.

VisAbility’s Children’s Therapy Centre, an NDIS registered provider, empowers families living with disability through a range of therapy services for children aged 0 – 18 years.

It is the first and only children’s therapy centre with a team of allied health professionals looking after the needs of children on Hobart’s Eastern Shore.

A teamwork approach is used to support families, with input from a range of allied health professionals including Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Speech Pathologists. Individual and group services are available in the home and the community.

“At VisAbility, we address the underlying problems that inhibit children from doing everyday things, such as writing, eating, using the toilet, sleeping, going to the park, shopping, going in the car, learning or playing,” said Heidi Smit, Children and Youth Services Coordinator.

“Children and families are supported to achieve their goals across many life roles: being a son or daughter, a sibling, a learner, a playmate, a pedestrian or a member of the household.”

“We help children develop the skills and confidence they need to reach their true potential.”

The Open Day runs from 9.00am – 12.00pm. Light refreshments will be available. For further information please contact Heidi Smit, Cheree Coull, call (03) 6245 9232 or join the event on Facebook.
