in Latest News
Photo of Suzie WestwoodSuzy Westwood has been an instrumental production volunteer for VisAbility’s Talking Book Library for almost 3 years. She has been actively involved in the production of accessible talking books for the reading pleasure of our borrowers. This service is continuously benefiting our borrowers with print disabilities.
Suzy gained interest to volunteer for VisAbility Library to fill in her time and learn new skills when she was initially searching for a job. She started by helping at the front reception area before deciding to try her hands on producing accessible books for VisAbility Library.
Despite being vision impaired herself, she has taken up the challenge to master the technical processes of the production cycle and has succeeded with flying colours.
Suzy works well in a team-based environment and liaises well with other team members. She has been participating in various discussions to improve the production line. Moreover, she has given us an insight from a client’s point of view, which has played a major role in improving the overall standards and quality of accessible talking books here at VisAbility. In addition to her work, Suzy has also been providing assistance in training new volunteers and giving the necessary help when needed. Suzy has shown great determination in her work and never fails to provide her contribution on a weekly basis to our team.
Suzy was on a traineeship for 18 months for the Department of Finance and was recently offered employment as a Business Support Assistant. Her main role is to conduct website testing on accessibility and data entry processing. She works part time – 3 days a week and volunteers 1-day a week for VisAbility library.
Suzy’s hobbies are playing golf and cycling with her father over the weekend. She has been actively participating in Western Australian Blind Golf Tournament, which takes place once a year. One of her biggest achievements is becoming the “Overall Winner” for the 2014 Western Australian Blind Gold Open Tournament.
Suzy’s charisma to thrive and give her best in whatever she does is truly admirable. She is a true inspiration to all young individuals out there and we are extremely proud to have her as part of the VisAbility Library team.

Thank you Suzy for your dedication and hardwork!
