VisAbility was recently thrilled to have the opportunity to go on a behind-the-scenes tour at the new Perth Children’s Hospital before it opened to patients.
Associate Professor and PCH Head of Ophthalmology, Geoffrey Lam, invited VisAbility’s CEO Dr Clare Allen, Executive Manager Client Services Kary Macliver, and Manager Therapy and Support Services Seb Della Maddalena to tour the hospital’s eye clinic.
The tour gave the group the opportunity to ask Dr Lam about PCH’s new equipment and features. “We were very impressed. Parents can feel reassured to know their child has access to world class facilities in a bright and new hospital environment,” said Seb Della Maddalena.
The team was also given a tour of the hospital, including a sneak peek at the Fun at Four play space, which caters for patients and siblings of all ages and abilities, with features such as a sensory playground and beanbag cinema. PCH has a focus on play therapy, an important part of the holistic care provided to children and young people.
“The large spaces, dedicated play areas and décor give PCH a fantastic fun feel,” Seb said.
We’d like to say a big thank you to PCH and Dr Lam for the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art facilities. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the teams at Perth Children’s Hospital (link opens in new window).
