Workshop outline

The Human Guide Training can be added to any workshop presentation available through VisAbility or also presented on its own. In this course one of our Orientation and Mobility Specialists will practically teach you how to safely guide a person with a vision impairment.

What is covered?

  • Practically learn how to safely guide a person with a Vision Impairment with Sighted (Human) Guide Training.
  • Experience what it is like to live with a vision impairment and be guided by someone else.

Who is this course for?

  • This course is suited for all workplace Professional Development Days.
  • It can be added onto any current workshop presentation available through VisAbility.

This course will be presented by one of our Orientation and Mobility Specialists.

This workshop is suitable for everyone.

Workshop details

This workshop can be conducted at your designated location (onsite), VisAbility (Victoria Park) or remotely via video conference.  Note that to get the most benefit from the workshop we recommend the workshop be conducted in person.

Duration

This workshop runs for 1 hour.

Number of participants

This workshop can be run with up to 20 participants.  For larger groups we can facilitate the workshop with up to 40 participants.

Requirements

Onsite

  • Room set up in classroom format.
  • Data projector and screen, HDMI or USB C connection.
  • Access to an indoor corridor with hinged or sliding doors.
  • Access to a flight of stairs with handrails.
  • Access to an open plan indoor and/or outdoor area.
  • Display table 1000mm by 600mm.
  • Chair with arms.

Remote

  • Access to Microsoft Teams.
